The story
Tom Harvey started as an HVAC helper in 1999 — bottom rung, learning the craft one attic at a time. By 2007 he was running his own shop, and by 2015 he was starting over with what he's described as a beat-up truck and a bag of tools, and a new name borrowed from the city he grew up in.
The turning points came the unglamorous way: a trip to the AHR Expo in 2017 that reshaped how he thought about the business, joining EGIA in 2019, and year after year of answering the phone when it rang. By 2022 the company Tom rebuilt from that one truck had earned a place in the top quarter of the Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing private companies — with a wrapped fleet, an office on East Bay Street, and a team of local professionals measured in the dozens.
Meet Tom & Jennifer
Tom was born and raised on James Island, and still lives there with his wife Jennifer and their three children — Ethan, Carolina, and Arabella. Tom and Jennifer run Holy City together: the family is active in the local community and in the daily operations of the business. When we say family business, we mean the literal kind.
Mission & values
Three commitments, held since day one:
- Give back to the local community — our roots run deep here, and a Charleston company should show up for Charleston.
- Care for our customers — honest recommendations and long-term comfort over high-pressure sales.
- Invest in our employees — seasoned, well-supported professionals do the best work.
