Holy City Heating & Air is based at 238 East Bay Street, so downtown Charleston is not just a service area for us — it is home. We design around those constraints rather than against them, using ductless mini-splits, slim-duct systems, and carefully placed equipment that respects the architecture.

The peninsula sits low between the Ashley and Cooper Rivers, and much of it lies in mapped flood zones. King tides and heavy summer rain regularly put water in streets and crawl spaces, which is why we pay close attention to equipment elevation, condensate routing, and corrosion-resistant materials on downtown installations.
The housing stock is unlike anywhere else in South Carolina: masonry and wood-frame single houses from the 1700s and 1800s, many governed by the Board of Architectural Review. Retrofitting air conditioning into these homes without damaging plaster, piazzas, or original millwork is a craft in itself, and it is a large part of what we do downtown.
Charleston summers are long, humid, and salt-laden even this far up the harbor. Systems here run hard from May through October, and humidity control matters as much as raw cooling capacity — especially in older homes that were never built to be sealed tight.
